On September 30, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. Belarus will focus on self-financing rather than state subsidies for the agro-industrial complex. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, speaking today at the republican festival-fair of agricultural workers "Dazhynki-2011", BelTA reports. "For example, we need protein, soybeans. We will provide serious assistance to those who cultivate it at the initial stage, - promised the head of state. - And everyone knows that this crop is very profitable. For example, we may need to grow more garlic so as not to import it. Once we imported onions until we learned to grow them in the Gomel region. Now the people of Gomel produce more than 40 thousand tons of onions - this is enough for the country. This produce is also bought outside the country. The profitability of crops like onions is perhaps even higher than in the oil industry," said Alexander Lukashenko. The President emphasized that the state will direct resources towards such important programs in a targeted manner. -0-
