A jubilee medal "35th Anniversary of the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Afghanistan" has been established. The corresponding decree No. 403 was signed by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Head of State.

On the obverse of the jubilee medal, in the upper central part, there is a five-pointed star; in the middle part, a symbolic image of the map of Afghanistan with the capital, Kabul, indicated, and embossed golden inscriptions "1979" and "1989"; in the lower part, mountains and two helicopters over a column of armoured personnel carriers, one of which carries figures of servicemen holding the Battle Banner.

The jubilee medal will be awarded to citizens of Belarus (including posthumously) who performed military and service duties in Afghanistan from December 1979 to February 1989, as well as to servicemen of the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations, employees of state bodies and organisations, and other persons who have made a significant contribution to the patriotic education of citizens of Belarus, the perpetuation of the memory of the fallen, the development of the veterans' movement, the organisation of social and medical rehabilitation for internationalist soldiers, disabled persons, and families of the deceased.
