In Belarus, rules for the maintenance and use of mechanical vehicles not intended for road use, as well as floating objects, in the border zone and border strip have been approved. This is stipulated by the Resolution of the State Border Committee dated June 10, 2015, No. 10 "On Certain Issues of Vehicle Maintenance and Use," published today on the National Legal Internet Portal, reports a BELTA correspondent.

According to the document, the maintenance and use of mechanical vehicles not intended for road use, as well as floating objects, in the border strip are not permitted. Exceptions include such vehicles and objects belonging to border guard authorities, other state bodies and organisations, used in the performance of their assigned tasks.

The use of such vehicles in the border zone is permitted during daylight hours, i.e., the period from sunrise to sunset. Individuals must carry and present upon request by authorised officials of the border guard authorities and internal affairs bodies documents stipulated by Article 37 of the Law "On the State Border of the Republic of Belarus," as well as provide necessary explanations regarding their presence in the border zone and border strip. Documents confirming the right of ownership, use, and/or disposal of such vehicles (sales contract, gift agreement, lease agreement, gratuitous use agreement, rental agreement, service order for rental, invoice, sales receipt, power of attorney, etc.) must also be presented.

Within the border zone, it is prohibited to leave mechanical vehicles unfit for operation on roads outside settlements located within the border zone without notifying the nearest border guard service unit. In case of a breakdown, an individual operating a vehicle and residing within the border zone must take measures to evacuate it to their place of residence settlement; other individuals must evacuate it outside the border zone.

For violation of the procedure for maintenance and use of mechanical vehicles unfit for operation on roads, as well as floating objects, within the border zone and border strip, individuals shall be held liable in accordance with the procedure established by legislation.

This resolution comes into force on July 23.
