On December 13, Orsha /Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA/. 104 new dairy farms will be commissioned in Belarus in 2012. This was announced today to journalists by the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, who participated in meetings in Dokshitsy and Orsha on the construction and reconstruction of dairy farms in the Vitebsk region, and also visited the dairy farm under construction of OJSC "Rossiy Silets" (village Zasekli, Orsha district), BELTA correspondent reports.
"In 2011, we must commission at least 83 new dairy farms, and our plans for next year are 104 such farms," the Prime Minister noted. According to him, the meetings held today in Dokshitsy and Orsha allowed for consideration of the practical implementation of the President's instructions on modernizing existing dairy farms and discussing the construction of such facilities. "Our discussions were structured with the aim of carrying out significant modernization of one farm in each agricultural enterprise during 2012, thus we are moving towards the modernization of 1,300 farms," said the head of government.
He drew particular attention to the fact that for the successful development of the dairy industry in the future, the construction and reconstruction of dairy farms alone is not enough. It is necessary to create a highly productive herd of cows, as well as to form a modern feed base. "It is necessary for the farms to be equipped with highly productive cattle and an appropriate feed base," emphasized Mikhail Myasnikovich. "Good farms can be built, but if the animals have low productivity and insufficient feeding, all this will not be very efficient."
It is expected that by the end of the five-year period, a highly productive herd of cows numbering 1 million will be formed in the country's agricultural enterprises. "Thus, we will have 7 million tons of milk, and by creating an additional herd of 600,000 head, we will reach a milk production volume in the country of 10-10.5 million tons," explained the Prime Minister.
The Head of Government noted the existence of certain problems, including a shortage of financial resources, which hinder the implementation of projects for the creation and reconstruction of dairy farms. At the same time, he expressed confidence that all these issues will be resolved quite successfully. "The main thing is that the mood is positive and everyone is actively working to fulfill the task set by the President," he added. Analyzing the progress of similar projects in the Vitebsk region, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted the high level of elaboration of these issues by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and its head, Alexander Kosinets, personally. -0-
