3 May, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. For the first time in Belarus, a network of public organizations working in the field of prevention and combating domestic violence is being created. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
This work is being carried out in preparation for the launch of the project "Building National Capacity to Combat Domestic Violence in the Republic of Belarus", which is being implemented with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as well as the financial support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
An inaugural meeting for future network members is scheduled for 26 May. The network is being created with the aim of enhancing the role of public organizations in the prevention and combating of domestic violence by increasing their capacity to carry out preventive work and provide qualified assistance to victims.
The network coordinator in the republic is the NGO "Belarusian Association of Young Christian Women".
