Updated rules for retail trade by sample have come into force in Belarus. This is stipulated by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of March 1, 2019 No. 143, BELTA reports.
When selling by sample, the sale of alcoholic beverages, low-alcohol drinks, and beer is prohibited. The same applies to biologically active food supplements, veterinary and medicinal products, weapons and ammunition, domestic pyrotechnic products, poppy seeds, tobacco products, liquids for electronic smoking systems, jewellery, gold and silver leaf, precious metal coins, investment bars, and cut precious stones.
The sale of perishable food products and food products for athletes is permitted only if the seller has a retail outlet where such products are sold and/or stored, as well as in cases where the seller is the manufacturer of such products, regardless of whether they have a retail outlet.
The seller is obliged to provide the buyer with necessary and reliable information about the goods and their manufacturers in a timely and accessible manner, enabling the buyer to make an informed choice. This can be done verbally or in writing upon the buyer's request.
Information is communicated to the buyer through catalogues, prospectuses, advertisements, brochures, photographs, or other information sources, including the internet, used to describe the goods. Information on the price of goods and their delivery must be presented in a font size no less than half the largest font size used in the product description.
