Thus, since the beginning of 2000, the proportion of young women aged 16-30 engaged in physical education and sports has increased 1.5-fold. Among young men, this figure increased less significantly – by 2.3 percentage points. According to a sample survey of households on living standards, at the beginning of the current year, 46.6% of young men and 40.3% of young women were engaged in physical education and sports (at the beginning of 2000 – 44.3% and 26.7% respectively).

According to statistical data, among young men and women engaged in physical education and sports, the proportion of those who dedicate time to sports activities 2-3 times a week is 58.7% and 63.6% respectively.

As of January 1, 2014, Belarus was home to 2,185.2 thousand young people, accounting for 23.1% of the country's total population. The largest youth age group is young people aged 25-30, numbering 940 thousand people at the beginning of the current year.

By Decree of the President, 2015 has been declared the Year of Youth in Belarus. This will attract additional attention from government bodies and the general public to the issues of implementing the main directions of the state youth policy.

World Youth Day is celebrated annually on November 10 under the auspices of the World Federation of Democratic Youth.

According to UN information, the world is currently home to the largest generation of young people in human history – 1.8 billion young people.
