In Belarus, over 1.7 million tonnes of cattle and poultry meat were produced in 2022.

 In 2022, Belarus produced over 1.7 million tonnes of livestock and poultry meat. This was reported by Natalia Sonich, Head of the Main Department for Intensification of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, according to BELTA.

According to Natalia Sonich, in 2022, Belarus produced a total of 1.735 million tonnes of livestock and poultry meat across all categories of farms.

"Everyone knows that in 2021, we did not achieve the desired grain harvest level. As a result, a number of agricultural organisations experienced a shortage of compound feeds. Primarily, livestock were fed with forage crops, which do not provide the average daily weight gains we would like to achieve. Furthermore, due to external circumstances at the beginning of 2022, we were unable to quickly reorient towards importing protein raw materials for the compound feed industry – for our pig farms and poultry factories. However, within a month, we managed to find new markets and supply our compound feed industry. Nevertheless, it must be noted that all these events affected our production volumes and rates," explained the specialist.
