Fires are devastating for insects, lead to the destruction of habitats for birds and animals, and cause land degradation. Not only weeds but also useful plants burn in the fire, which impoverishes the species composition. Wherever fires have occurred, the former diversity of grasses will be lost, and weeds will take over the cleared territory. Often, fires lead to the ignition of peatlands, forests, residential and utility buildings.

As reported by Yuri Korolev, Head of the Department of the Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, an illegal burning of dry vegetation is punishable by a fine ranging from 10 to 40 base units. Last year, environmentalists identified 17 offenses, with the total amount of fines amounting to 1.4 thousand rubles.
