The results of the outgoing year were summarised and tasks for 2024 were defined at a meeting of the Commission for Road Traffic Safety Assurance under the Lepel District Executive Committee, with the participation of all relevant services.

Particular attention was paid by the attendees to the prevention of child road traffic injuries. The "home-school-home" route must be safe and comfortable.

Among other issues, the readiness of road and utility services for winter operation was considered, as well as applications for the installation of road signs.

Sergey Bystritsky, Chairman of the Commission for Road Traffic Safety Assurance under the Lepel District Executive Committee:

"Often, parents, with good intentions, create a dangerous situation: they drive their child practically to the school doorstep, causing traffic congestion during peak hours on busy roads.

This applies to all city schools, but a particularly dangerous situation arises on Danukalova Street (the section from Lobanka Street to Svobody Square). The Commission has decided to prohibit vehicle stops in this section of the road. Prohibition signs will be installed in the second half of December. The nearest equipped parking area is located in the square near the Lepel District House of Culture. From the parking area to the schools, there are pedestrian paths without the need to cross the carriageway."
