The number of people injured on the railway increases annually during the spring and summer period:
- Last year, over 90 citizens were injured on the tracks, a third of whom were pensioners. Almost half were intoxicated. Since the beginning of this year, 14 people have been injured on the railway, nine of whom died, and another five sustained serious injuries, — Vitaly Yakubovsky, Deputy Head of the Department – Head of the Public Security Department at Transport Facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Public Security Department at Transport Facilities, told reporters at a press conference.The police have now taken additional measures to prevent non-production-related injuries. Work is also underway to adjust the rules for citizens' presence at facilities that are sources of increased danger. Together with Belarusian Railway, stations, stopping points, and crossings where accidents and emergency braking of locomotives have been recorded are being inspected.
The work with the public is not forgotten either, especially through messengers and social networks.
- Last year, we implemented the "Effective Promotion of Road Traffic Safety" program with the aim of creating and developing social networks to promote compliant behaviour and ensure road traffic safety, — says Alexander Bruy, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Main Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Every last Friday of the month, traffic police officers hold meetings with the workforces of motor transport enterprises and educational institutions. Great attention is paid to preventing child fatalities in road traffic accidents.
