In the late 1930s, pre-war sentiments prevailed in the USSR. Military schools were being established in Belarus to train junior and middle-ranking commanders. In 1939, an infantry school was formed in Lepel.

However, over time, it became clear that the territory of Belarus was extremely risky, and already in 1940, the country's leadership decided to relocate the school to a safe territory, beyond the enemy's reach.

Thus, in 1940, the Lepel school "took root" on the peaceful land of Vologda.

Seventeen years later, this school became the pride of the region, evolving from a military communications school to the Cherepovets Higher Military University of Radio Electronics.

A book about the establishment of this renowned higher education institution is being prepared for publication, commissioned by Pavel Filimonov, the executive director of CJSC "Rosstroy" and founder of VOOO "Officers of the Vologda Region," based on materials provided by him and his Belarusian colleagues.
