Over the past weekend, 32 road traffic accidents occurred in the republic, resulting in one fatality and 41 injuries. 602 instances of driving without a license were stopped. 182 drunk drivers were apprehended.

For example, on the evening of May 8th, five passengers, including two adults and three minors, were injured in a "drunk driving" accident in the Buda-Kashalyovsky district. The group, accompanied by children, was travelling to a shop in a neighbouring village. On a gravel road, an intoxicated 39-year-old driver without a license lost control of the vehicle, veered into a ditch, and collided with a building. All individuals involved in the accident were being transported in violation of the Road Traffic Rules.

For drunk driving, depending on the degree of intoxication, as well as for refusing to undergo testing, a fine of up to 200 base units is applied, along with the revocation of the right to drive all types of vehicles for up to 5 years. For a repeat offence within a year, criminal liability with confiscation of the vehicle is threatened.
