The number of cherry orchards in Glubokoye is growing every year: today, another orchard will be laid in the cherry capital of Belarus, Elena Ustinova, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association, told a BELTA correspondent.

The tree planting, timed to coincide with the Year of Small Motherland, will take place on the territory of the Glubokoye psycho-neurological boarding school. On an area of 0.5 hectares, employees and patients of this institution, and employees of the regional trade union association will plant 50 cherry saplings.

The first Cherry Festival, which has become a branded event in Belarus in recent years, was held in Glubokoye in the summer of 2013. To mark its holding in April, a huge cherry orchard of 1414 trees was planted, and the city centre was adorned with the sculpture "Glubokoye Cherry". Since then, mass cherry planting events have become annual in the district. Such an event was also held this spring, noted in the Glubokoye District Executive Committee.
