In January-February 2021, a decrease in the number of road traffic accidents involving children and injured minors was observed across the Republic of Belarus, while the number of children killed in road accidents remained at the same level.

The situation with child road traffic injuries was most unfavourable in the Vitebsk region, where two child passengers died as a result of a head-on collision in the Dokshytsy district, as well as in Minsk city, where the number of road accidents involving children and injured minors increased.

59% of injured children were involved in road traffic accidents as pedestrians.

In the current year, 5 road traffic accidents involving minors have occurred in the Vitebsk region, in which 2 children died and 4 received injuries of varying severity.

In order to reduce accidents in the region, from March 15 to March 21, 2021, a set of preventive measures is being carried out aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving minors, as well as vulnerable road users, under the slogan "Life is not a game. There will be no second chance!"
