The creative competition for young performers – the patriotic song contest “Songs of the Youth of Our Fathers-2023” – is becoming increasingly popular among young people each year.
Performers aged 16 to 35 were invited to participate as soloists or ensembles, and they were required to prepare 2 compositions created between 1970 and 2000.
The first song, “Songs of My Soul,” was dedicated to their native Belarus, homeland, and people, focusing on love and dreams. The second song was a Soviet, Belarusian, or foreign hit. The total duration of the songs should not exceed 8 minutes.
The organizers of the creative competition consider the main goal of this event to be the support of talented young performers, the improvement of performing skills, and the patriotic and aesthetic education of the younger generation through the best examples of the song genre of past years.
This year, the competition featured both new young voices and experienced performers. Thus, the main stage of the district gathered talented, I would say, the “golden” youth of the Lepel region.
It is always very exciting to be the first to perform. This mission fell to Olga Vorobyova, who represented the Borovaya Secondary School named after G. K. Zhukov of the Lepel District. She set the tone for the event by performing the song “Molitva za Belarus” (Prayer for Belarus) to the lyrics of Yanka Kupala. After the music faded, the applause in the hall indicated that the competition among the participants would be serious; everyone had prepared thoroughly and would make maximum efforts to win.
Daria Chumak from the Agrarian-Technical College captivated the jury with her clear voice and beautiful timbre, performing the well-known composition “Kak tebe sluzhitsya” (How are you serving).
The audience also actively welcomed the next performer from the same educational institution – Maxim Vasilonok. The song “Krysha doma tvoego” (The Roof of Your House) was sung along to by both schoolchildren and adults who had heard it in their childhood.
With a soulful performance, Maria Ermolaeva from the gymnasium named after I. M. Erashov of the city of Lepel found her way to the hearts of the audience and judges with the song “Ogromnoye nebo” (Vast Sky).
Oleg Nazarov from the 19th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade, which is stationed in the village of Zaslonovo, left no one indifferent by singing the familiar words
of the popular hit "The Song Remains with a Person," written in the 1960s
by composer Arkady Ostrovsky and poet Lev Oshanin. In its time,
the composition quickly became loved by listeners and became the anthem of Soviet pop music and
the opening theme for the television music competition "Song of the Year."
Kristina Dorokhova, who
represented the Lepel Children's Art School, amazed everyone with her professional
performance of "Cranes Fly to Polesie" and touched the audience's heartstrings.
And this is not surprising, as she is no novice in such competitions.
The same can be said about the
duet of Olga Dmitrichenko and Alexandra Myshko, representatives of the Zaslonovskaya
Children's Art School branch. The sincerity with which the girls performed their
number "Song about the Native Land" did not leave those present in the hall
indifferent.
The performance of the trio of
Elena Valevich, Ksenia Yelchina, and Ekaterina Yusupova, teachers from
secondary school No. 1 in Lepel, was also brilliant. Together with them, the
entire hall sang along to the song "Father's House."
"Where the Maple Tree Rustles" was the composition performed by the
vocal and instrumental group "Gvardiya" from the 19th Separate Guards
Mechanized Brigade, which is stationed in the village of Zaslonovo. It was
pleasant to see how the younger generation on the other side of the stage sang
along with the artists. When asked where they knew the lyrics from, they replied
that they had learned them while watching the TV series "Svaty."
Throughout the first
stage, the chords of well-known compositions sounded in the hall, and the guests,
unable to contain their emotions, sang along with the artists and then applauded
loudly.
The songs of the second stage
can be described as timeless. These are hits from different periods that reflect
important phenomena and events in a person's life.
"New Hero," "Where Childhood Goes," "Apples in the Snow," "Everything Will Pass," "Romantics" -- these and other hits
were performed by the contestants in the next segment. It must be said that
modern youth today are increasingly returning to the hits of past years. True,
they gain a new sound in modern arrangements, but the meaning remains the
same -- profound.
The competition entries were
judged by a competent jury, headed by Elena Borodeiko, Head of the Department
of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs, based on criteria such as the
program's suitability for the performer's age, the competition's theme, the level
of performance skill and preparation, vocal abilities, artistry, and stage
presence.
After listening to everyone, the
judges had to
it is very difficult to determine the best, as all performances were vivid,
memorable and touching.
Before awarding
the winners, Elena Ivanovna thanked the residents of Lepel for their effort, heartfelt
performance, and active participation. She emphasized that the competition had become a bright
event held under the auspices of the Year of Peace and Creation. Furthermore, such
events demonstrate how carefully young people treat the history,
culture, and creative traditions of their people.
The chairperson of the jury noted that
the festival's standard is improving every year. It is also pleasing that significant work is being done with talented young people.
This is evidenced by today's performances. The main goal set by the competition – to encourage and
promote talent – has been achieved.
As a result, the Grand Prix among
solo vocalists was awarded to Kristina Dorokhova, 1st place to Oleg Nazarov, the 2nd step of the podium was taken by Daria Chumak, and the 3rd by Maxim Vasilonok.
Among vocal ensembles, the jury
awarded first place to two groups – the duet of Alexandra Myshko and Olga
Dmitrichenko, and the vocal-instrumental group "Gvardiya". All prize-winners
received gifts from the competition organizer – the Department of Ideological Work,
Culture, and Youth Affairs.
As the finalists said, the choice of
compositions for each was not accidental, as it was precisely in them that they could reveal
their vocal abilities, supported by their vibrant charisma.
In conclusion, we would like to
thank the competition organizers – the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee, the staff of the District House of Culture for preparing the event, and all participants for the mood and positive emotions provided for a long time to come.
