Today, the residents of Lepel celebrated the upcoming professional holiday of the country's agro-industrial complex – the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers.
The best farmers of the district were congratulated in a solemn ceremony by the district leadership, representatives of public associations, partner enterprises, and district social organisations.
"You are the pride of our native land. Thanks to the coordinated work of the villagers, our region is becoming economically stronger every year. Thank you for your labour!" – such words were repeatedly heard from the stage.
"The Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers is a holiday for our entire district, a holiday for farmers and livestock breeders, workers of processing industry enterprises, specialists and managers, youth and veterans of agricultural production.
Today we honour people who make a significant contribution to strengthening one of the vital sectors of the economy. We all know that the well-being of our region and social stability largely depend on your labour.
This year has been challenging for our farmers. A late spring and summer drought had an extremely negative impact on the germination and development of agricultural crops. Nevertheless, the farmers of Lepel District made a significant contribution to the region's overall harvest. In 2022, agricultural organisations in the district threshed 33.8 thousand tonnes of grain, which is 21.3 percent more than the previous year's level. The yield of grain and leguminous crops was 27.8 centners per hectare. The largest contribution to the overall harvest was made by the "Bobrovo-Agro" branch of CJSC "Vitebskagropromproduct", which threshed 10.9 thousand tonnes of grain.
This year, the district's farmers grew and harvested 2.0 thousand tonnes of rapeseed with a yield of 9.4 centners per hectare," noted the head of the district, Mikhail Kiselevich, in his speech.

The solemn award ceremony was conducted by the Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the District Executive Committee, Elena Borodeiko, as well as the Chairperson of the District Trade Union of Agro-Industrial Complex Workers, Sergey Martynovich.
