A residential house in Lepel district was almost destroyed by lightning, BELTA correspondent was informed by Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The fire in the village of Zapolye, Pyshnyansky village council, was allegedly caused by a direct lightning strike on a television antenna. By the time the first rescue unit arrived, the house was on fire. The fire destroyed property in the room and damaged walls and ceiling. Fortunately, the 84-year-old pensioner, who lived alone in the house, was not injured. Another fire occurred last weekend in the garden community "Rakita" in Vitebsk on 6th Sadovaya Street. Before the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units, a neighbor, born in 1967, rescued a young man, born in 1986, from the fire. The latter, intoxicated, with a laceration to his right shoulder and smoke inhalation, was hospitalized in the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. A little later, the body of the victim's mother, the owner of the house, was found at the scene of the fire. The causes of the incident are being clarified. -0-
