Every year during holidays, especially summer ones, the district committee of the public association "BRSM" organises the work of student teams. At enterprises, side by side with experienced colleagues, teenagers not only have the opportunity to earn their own money but also gain experience working in labour collectives.
The student team movement continues to advance across Lepel region, introducing young people to labour and fostering discipline. For instance, at OJSC "Lepelagroservice", the service student team "Repairmen" named after Hero of the Soviet Union V. G. Mookhin is currently working.
For 2 weeks, 5 brave young men will be assisting the agricultural enterprise's employees with machinery repair and other tasks.
Many might be wondering now: "How can teenagers fix equipment malfunctions?". They can, if they are students of the state agricultural and technical college.
It might seem they have only just finished their first year, but many of them already understand machinery. We witnessed this ourselves when we visited the agricultural enterprise's mechanical yard.
For example, Denis Misnik and Andrey Voroshko will graduate from college as technician-mechanics in a couple of years. To become good specialists in any field, practical experience is essential. In the student team, they have been given an excellent opportunity to experience their future profession earlier than other students in their group.
According to the future agricultural specialists, they enjoy their time here; all the enterprise's employees are friendly, ready to help and advise at any moment, and offer sound recommendations.
Since childhood, Denis has dreamed of working with large machinery, repairing combines, tractors, and other powerful machines. Like all of us, he experienced excitement as a boy watching a combine harvester in a golden barley field. A few years ago, he had the chance to sit in the cabin with a huge windshield, offering a panoramic view of the entire field. This event likely predetermined his choice of future profession.
In addition, Denis thoroughly enjoys helping his father repair passenger cars and quickly acquires practical skills.
-- Where to start?
Is the work morning starting for the lads? – I ask Igor Leonidovich Buzo, the workshop manager of the agricultural enterprise.
-- Of course, it starts with a safety briefing. We can't do without it. At any agricultural enterprise, labour protection issues are given special attention, which is multiplied if we are talking about the employment of teenagers. And then we determine the scope of work for the day.
-- And what is it for today?
-- Removing interchangeable elements from the seeder. Then we'll need to help dismantle the disc harrow, cultivator, and other equipment. And, if necessary, they will help with heaping and drying grain, as well as tidying up.
-- Aren't you starting the repair of the seeders too early? The harvesting campaign is still underway.
-- Not too early. You won't notice how time flies, and the sowing season will begin. The rush of concerns will only subside a little in winter.
-- How have the fighters proven themselves?
-- From the first days, they have shown themselves, one might say, to be disciplined workers. They carry out assigned tasks responsibly.
Now is a busy time for agricultural enterprises, farmers are in the fields until late in the evening. The help of the student squad fighters is invaluable. It is clear that not everything works out right away, they don't do it as quickly as employees with many years of experience. But each of us was once in their place, so we treat them with understanding. Perhaps in a couple of years, some of these guys will become members of our team.
-- Lads, your squad bears the name of Valentin Grigoryevich Mukhin. Do you know how his fate is connected with Lepel region and why he received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union?
-- Of course, we know, -- replied Denis Misnik. -- He was born in the town of Lepel into a military family. As his father was a serviceman, they had to move cities often.
In 1944, he graduated from the Odessa Special Air Force School, which was evacuated to Tajikistan. From July of the same year, he was in the army.
In 1949, he graduated from the military aviation school for pilots, and for several years he was a flight instructor there. For a long time, he worked as a senior test pilot at an experimental design bureau, and later as the head of the flight test complex.
-- For his courage and heroism shown during the testing of new aviation equipment, Colonel Mukhin Valentin Grigoryevich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in 1966 with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the "Golden Star" medal, -- added his comrade Andrey Voroshko.

Anywork, even if not difficult, tests one's resilience. But then the guys will be proud of themselves, and further develop their independence and responsibility. The value of student teams is that teenagers can experience many professions in practice, visit different production sites, and be convinced that the choice of their life path is correct.
We wish that the good practice of labor education for the younger generation will continue to be actively implemented in the lives of the student youth in the Lepel region!
