From May 6 to May 31, within the framework of additional measures to counter crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of minors in the Lepel district, a republican operational and preventive complex is being conducted.
This complex is aimed at countering crimes against the sexual inviolability or sexual freedom of minors, as well as the circulation of child pornography. The main goal of the initiative is to encourage the public to immediately report sexual acts against children to the police. This will help law enforcement officers take timely response measures.
The set of measures includes joint work with all interested prevention entities. In particular, with employees of education, healthcare, as well as public associations. Police officers will inform specialists about the mechanism for early detection of pedophilia and other unlawful behavior.
Unfortunately, negative trends in the commission of crimes against the sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of minors still persist. The high latency of crimes related to sexual violence against children allows perpetrators to remain outside the attention of law enforcement officers for a long time, and their victims to be subjected to further violence. This is why this prevention is carried out, primarily to identify and prevent such crimes.
In the Lepel district, 5 crimes against the sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of minors were detected in the past period of 2022, one of which is related to sexual intercourse by a person who has reached the age of 18 with a person knowingly not having reached the age of 16 (Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, punishable by restriction or imprisonment for up to 4 years), two crimes are related to the production and distribution of pornography (Part 2 of Article 343 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, punishable by restriction or imprisonment
