On November 8, at approximately 9 a.m., the "101" rescue service received a report of an apartment fire in the village of Borovka, Lepel District. Upon arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) units at the scene, dense smoke was observed in the apartment and in the stairwell of the five-story residential building.
At the time of the fire, the 67-year-old owner of the apartment and a 54-year-old fellow villager, who was visiting, were inside. During the reconnaissance and firefighting operations, rescuers discovered the body of the homeowner on the floor in the corridor, and the body of the woman on the floor in a room.
MES workers evacuated 4 people from the second and third floors using a three-section ladder and an aerial ladder, including 1 child.
The fire was extinguished by rescuers. As a result of the fire, the walls and ceiling of the apartment were smoked, and the sofa in the living room was damaged.
A check is being conducted regarding this incident, and the cause of the fire is being established.
