In the Lepel district, a man used violence against employees of the Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora.

The Lepel District Department of the Investigative Committee is establishing the circumstances of violence and threats against officials.

According to the investigation, on April 6, 2026, employees of the Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora were conducting field control measures in the Lepel District. Around 5 p.m., they stopped a Volkswagen car driven by a 37-year-old man. During the inspection of his vehicle, a wolf carcass with signs of a gunshot wound was found in the cabin.

During the administrative process, the suspect did not comply with the lawful demands of the inspectors: he got into the car and started driving towards them, causing bodily harm to one of the inspectors, after which he fled. After some time, with the support of the traffic police, the foreign car was stopped. Subsequently, the resident of the Lepel District began to utter threats against an official of the Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora.

An investigative team worked at the scene. An inspection was carried out, and trace evidence was recorded. A number of necessary expert examinations have been assigned.

To date, the investigator of the Lepel District Department of the Investigative Committee has charged the 37-year-old man under Art. 366 (violence, threat of violence against an official performing official duties) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. With the sanction of the prosecutor, a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been applied to him.

The property of the accused has been seized. An examination of his personality has established that he had previously been prosecuted for theft.

A pre-investigation check is being conducted by the inquiry body into the fact of illegal hunting of a wolf. A final legal assessment of the suspect's actions will be given based on the results of the investigation.
