The first to receive congratulations were Boris Poryadkin, a Leningrad blockade survivor, Stefanida Matyukevich, a former prisoner, Petr Polonsky, a child disabled due to war consequences, and Gennady Plisko, a former prisoner.
Representatives of the authorities, public organizations, and a political party came to the veterans with warm words of gratitude.
"We congratulate you on the upcoming great holiday – the 80th anniversary of Victory! Thank you for your feat, for your resilience and labor in restoring the country. We wish you good health, well-being, and peaceful skies!" – addressed Mikhail Kiselevich.
Each of them was presented with congratulatory cards from the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the jubilee medal "80 Years of Victory," and commemorative gifts.
A total of 11 veterans are planned to be congratulated in the district, and such meetings will continue in the run-up to May 9.
In the Lepel district, solemn congratulations to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former concentration camp prisoners, and other participants of the heroic events of those years have begun.
