The fire hazard class in the forests of the Vitebsk region has decreased to the first-second level, the Vitebsk Regional Production Forestry Association (PLHO) informed a BELTA correspondent. The situation in the forests has improved due to changes in weather conditions: since the weekend, the air temperature in the region has decreased and it has been raining. Taking into account these circumstances, the ban on visiting forests by the public has been temporarily lifted in Orsha, Lepel, Vitebsk, Dubrovno, Shumilino and some other districts where such decisions were made. "If the fire hazard class increases again and there is a need to close the forests, the public will be warned in advance," the PLHO emphasized, adding that since the current week, forestries staff have returned to their normal working routine. Since the beginning of the fire hazard period this year (from April 30), there have been 22 cases of forest fires in the Vitebsk region, covering an area of 4.49 hectares. The vast majority of these incidents are related to violations of fire safety rules by holidaymakers, mushroom pickers and berry pickers.-0-
