In accordance with the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, illegal felling or destruction of trees is punishable by administrative liability under Article 16.17 with a fine of up to 30 base units. In addition, for each felled New Year tree, the offenders will be obliged to compensate for the damage caused to the environment, as well as the appraised value of the tree itself.
