Vitebsk region will widely present its historical and cultural potential as part of a large-scale regional presentation at the "Russia" exhibition-forum at VDNKh.

The thematic exposition will be located in the Belarusian national pavilion and will replace the presentation of the Brest region. The opening will take place on Friday, February 2. For three and a half weeks (until February 26), residents and guests of the Russian capital will be able to learn about the unique culture of the northern region of Belarus.

As Petr Podgursky, Head of the Culture Department of the Regional Executive Committee, explained, the program will be very rich, creative, and consist of several sections. Thus, one can get acquainted with traditional art by visiting the improvised homes of our ancestors. The daily life of a family from the late 19th – early 20th century, folk craft items that are included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Belarus will be displayed here. These include items made of straw, clay, painted carpets, "vytinanka" (paper cutting), and much more.

– Various areas of art and culture will be presented on six display cases. In particular, tiles and Vitebsk majolica, the restoration of which is carried out by master Lyudmila Kovalchuk, a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. The themes "Polotsk – the cradle of Belarusian statehood" and "Partisan Vitebsk region" will occupy an important place in the exposition. I think the presentation of the Museum of the Vitebsk People's Art School will attract great attention. A display case reflecting the Soviet era – a story about industrial development, awards for high achievements – will also be of interest, – noted Petr Podgursky.

Of course, the Vitebsk Region Days at the exhibition of achievements are hard to imagine without the "Slavianski Bazaar". Those who have not yet visited the festival capital during the large-scale forum will be able to immerse themselves in its atmosphere, see the famous Summer Amphitheatre arch, and sing karaoke with a star.

VDNKh visitors will also be able to take part in master classes on making traditional Belarusian souvenirs or make an imprint of an engraving on an old printing press.

– The presentation of the Vitebsk region in the "Republic of Belarus" pavilion will take place on February 16 with an extensive concert program, in which ensembles from the regional philharmonic society and the Polotsk district will participate, – explained Petr Podgursky.
