The sculpture, approximately 2 m high, will depict an angel holding a lily, the city's symbol. The divine being itself will be situated within a lyre, a symbol of music. "The lyre also resembles a floating boat. It is no coincidence that the sculpture will be located in the dendropark, near which the Western Dvina flows. Furthermore, this year Novopolotsk is the cultural capital of Belarus, so the angel will also symbolise a muse," noted Irina Kasputis. The sculpture will be installed on an illuminated glass pedestal resembling river waves, with steel elements inside the glass representing the lyre's strings.
The author of the composition is Dmitry Oganov, a native of the oil city, and the client is the Novopolotsk Special Motor Transport Depot. It will be manufactured using sponsorship funds.
The sculpture is planned to be unveiled on December 14. On this day, the city will host the closing ceremony of the republican campaign "Cultural Capital of Belarus".
