The number of people engaged in physical culture and sports is growing in the Pridvinye region. Excellent conditions are being created for healthy lifestyle enthusiasts in the Vitebsk region. This was discussed at a meeting of the regional executive committee.
As noted in his report by Vasily Zakharevich, Head of the Sports and Tourism Department of the Regional Executive Committee, according to data for the first 9 months of the current year, the number of people engaged in physical culture and sports in the Vitebsk region reached 291,000 people (26.3% of the total population). For comparison, for 2022, these figures were 287,000 (26.01%).
- The material and technical base of the industry is dynamically developing, - noted Vasily Zakharevich. - New sports facilities are opened every year. For example, a swimming pool is being built in Lepel, and it is planned to be commissioned early next year. There are plans to build a multifunctional sports complex in the Bilevo microdistrict of Vitebsk. It will include halls for team sports and a 50-meter swimming pool. Everything will comply with international standards for holding international competitions. The design work is planned to be completed in February. In general, the task is to have a physical culture and recreation complex in every district of the Pridvinye region.
In addition, 39 bicycle paths are equipped in the region, and over forty bicycle rental points are in operation.
As emphasized by Vadim Ardzhanovich, Director of the Regional Educational and Methodological Centre for Physical Education of the Population, physical education begins at the earliest age. Numerous sports events are held annually, including for children in health camps. The organisation of such competitions and campaigns is of paramount importance for the re-education of adolescents who are under various forms of supervision.
To further encourage adults to adopt a healthy lifestyle, work is carried out annually to create physical culture and sports clubs within organisations and enterprises. Material incentives for employees who lead a healthy lifestyle are of great importance. A prime example of such work is the enterprise "Vitebskoblgaz".
