21 November, Vitebsk /Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. In the Orsha district, due to a fire in a pumping station, the water supply to almost 80 households in the village of Nizhnyaya Veravoysha has been disrupted, the propaganda and training center at the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent.
The incident occurred around midnight from November 20 to 21. Rescuers who arrived upon the alarm signal extinguished the open burning of the roof of a single-story brick pumping station building with a total area of 12 sq.m. As a result of the incident, the roof and electrical equipment (deep pump control station) inside the building were damaged. The preliminary cause of the fire is considered to be a short circuit of electrical wiring; the damage is being assessed.
The pumping station, owned by the UP "Rayzhilfond" (District Housing Fund), fills the water tower to supply water to almost 80 households with a total population of 130 people. Repair and restoration work is currently underway at the facility, which is planned to be completed by the end of the current day. However, the villagers have not been left without water – temporary water supply is being provided from the village well. -0-
