A passenger car collided with the Paris-Moscow train, BELTA was informed by the press secretary of the Internal Affairs Department on Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, Alexander Marchenko. The incident occurred near the Khorobrovo stopping point (Kokhanovo-Orsha section). A resident of Orsha district, born in 1949, was driving a Volkswagen Passat car with one passenger. The car drove through a red light onto a guarded railway crossing equipped with functioning light and sound alarms. As a result, a collision with the Paris-Moscow train occurred. Fortunately, no one was injured. The car and the locomotive sustained mechanical damage. The Paris-Moscow train was delayed by 45 minutes, the Minsk-Orsha train by 10 minutes, and the Orsha-Minsk electric train by 16 minutes. The investigation established that the driver was sober. Approaching the railway crossing, the car's brakes failed, causing the vehicle to enter the tracks. The pensioner and his wife managed to leave the car, but it could not be saved. -0-
