A new development by Belarusian scientists will be implemented for the first time in our country at the RUE "Ustye" of the NAS of Belarus" in Orsha district. The feed production line for all groups of cattle is an innovative project of the Scientific and Practical Centre of the NAS of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanisation. Its installation began in June 2023, and commissioning works are currently underway.
The line's capacity is 4 tonnes of finished compound feed per hour. This includes the capability to produce extruded feeds, which significantly reduce financial costs and increase profits. They are particularly beneficial for young cattle.
– The line is fully automated and will be operated by 2 people. Thanks to the launch of the new production facility, we will fully provide our own livestock with high-quality compound feeds, – noted Dmitry Batyukov, Director of RUE "Ustye" of the NAS of Belarus". – They will be prepared for each group of animals according to the recipes developed by scientists of the Scientific and Practical Centre of the NAS of Belarus for Animal Husbandry.
The enterprise has a total of 4600 head of cattle. 970 head of the entire dairy herd are pedigree Red Danish cows. The total number of this productive breed is 2100 head.
Incidentally, the closed-cycle dairy complex is another innovative project of the NAS of Belarus in the region. Thanks to its implementation, the enterprise is already producing livestock products that are the best not only in the region but also in the country. Unique conditions have been created here for conducting scientific experiments to develop promising technologies in dairy cattle breeding. The Red Danish breed of cows is not a matter of fashion, but a scientifically and economically justified investment project. Currently, the milk yield per cow at the dairy complex is 18.5 litres. This is a 115% increase compared to the 2022 level. The average fat content in milk is 4.8%, and protein content is 3.27%. Average daily weight gain of calves reaches one thousand grams. Currently, a group of cows is being selected, whose produced A2 grade milk will be used in the manufacture of premium products. This is particularly relevant in the Year of Quality.
Now, the enterprise's main task is to move forward with giant strides, utilising its existing potential and keeping pace with science.
