The traffic police department of the Lepel District Department of Internal Affairs summed up the results of the special comprehensive event "Attention – Children!"

Traffic police officers will continue their work to prevent child injuries on the road even after the completion of the "Attention Children!" special comprehensive event, which ran from August 25 to September 5.

State Automobile Inspectorate officers reminded children and adults of the basic rules for safe road behaviour. Raids were conducted in conjunction with the media.

In collaboration with young traffic inspector teams, a series of preventive campaigns aimed at preventing road traffic accidents were carried out. During these campaigns, leaflets with preventive information and retroreflective elements were distributed among road users.
Despite the ongoing efforts and informing road users through mass media, undisciplined drivers are still encountered on the roads. During the event in the district, traffic police officers identified 226 traffic violations, including: 81 instances of drivers operating vehicles without dipped headlights; 8 drivers were held accountable for violating child transportation rules; 1 driver was held accountable for failing to yield to pedestrians at designated pedestrian crossings; 1 driver was apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol; 6 drivers without a driving license; as well as 23 pedestrians and cyclists, 4 of whom were intoxicated.

No road traffic accidents involving children have been registered in the Lepel district.

The State Automobile Inspectorate will continue its work on preventing child injuries, prioritising the control of compliance with rules for transporting minors and for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at pedestrian crossings.
