On April 25, Luninets / Alina Grishkevich - BELTA /. It is unacceptable to profit at the expense of people and unreasonably raise prices at a critical juncture. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his visit to the Zapadny supermarket in Luninets on April 25, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. This new retail outlet was commissioned in 2010, with an average monthly retail turnover of over Br593 million last year. The Head of State inquired about the product range, the increase in food prices, the ratio of domestic and imported goods in the store, and the overall operation of consumer cooperative stores. As explained to the President, the price increase mainly affected imported goods, and to a lesser extent, domestic ones. Incidentally, the main part of the goods in the store, 89%, is of domestic production. The store offers more than 15,000 items. The President was informed that the Luninets consumer cooperative holds the first place in the region's consumer cooperative system. Net profit for the past year in the trade sector of the consumer cooperative amounted to Br2.8 billion. Alexander Lukashenko was generally pleased with the organization of trade in Luninets and the operation of this particular retail outlet. At the same time, he said that the local authorities should keep the price situation under control and prevent their unjustified increase. -0-
