19 September, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. On the first day of early voting for the election of deputies to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, 5.6% of voters on the electoral rolls voted at overseas polling stations, the Central Election Commission informed BELTA.
Belarusian citizens can vote in parliamentary elections in 32 countries at 43 polling stations established by diplomatic and consular missions of Belarus.
The electoral rolls include Belarusian citizens whose residence in a foreign country is confirmed at the time of compilation of the list, as well as citizens on long-term business trips abroad.
Belarusian citizens visiting a foreign country for private, official, business or tourist purposes can also vote at overseas polling stations. To do so, they must present documents confirming their citizenship of the Republic of Belarus to the polling station commission.
Early voting for the parliamentary elections in the country will be held from 18 to 22 September inclusive. The main election day is scheduled for 23 September 2012. -0-
