Five residential care homes in the Vitebsk region have switched from a rotational work schedule to a regular one, reported Vera Astapenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.Residential care homes in the Vitebsk region are gradually moving away from full isolation towards a regular staffing schedule. "Five social institutions in the Vitebsk region have already returned to a normal work routine: Polotsk, Lunacharsky, Alexandrovsky and Selyutsky psycho-neurological residential care homes for the elderly and disabled, and the Vitebsk residential care home for the elderly and disabled. The rotational work schedule is being phased out in those institutions where at least 75% of staff and residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19," noted Vera Astapenko.
The vaccination campaign for residents and staff of the residential care homes is ongoing. As of March 25, approximately 1.5 thousand people have been vaccinated against coronavirus, including over 600 residents. There are no COVID-19 cases among the residents of the care homes, and all are feeling well after receiving the vaccine.
The issue of a phased return to a regular work schedule for 16 social institutions in the region is being addressed, including 10 residential care homes and 4 round-the-clock care departments of district territorial centres for social services to the population.
"The epidemiological situation in social service institutions is stable and is under the constant control of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee. The transition of such institutions to a regular work schedule is coordinated with the Regional Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health. In the near future, we plan to switch another 5 residential care homes to a regular schedule," emphasised Vera Astapenko.
