Problematic issues of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex were previously discussed at the head of state level in November, at which time instructions were given to rectify the situation.
"The first question is: what specific measures are being proposed? What are the developed models for the financial recovery of enterprises and, most importantly, what will be the result? - the President outlined the key issues for the meeting participants. - The presented materials currently focus mainly on state support measures. If this is the only thing you have come with, then we will simply waste our time."
As previously reported, problematic aspects of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex were discussed at a meeting held by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on November 22 in Vitebsk. At that time, a proposal was considered to create a super-large holding company in the region, but the head of state demanded to "start from the ground up" and competently develop existing integration structures.
"Hear my decision: the holdings you have created will exist. I am not against you expanding them territorially at the expense of farms. These farms will retain their economic viability. If you get more, it's yours, if you get less, there will be nothing. Organizationally, disciplinarily, you can even send to prison those who work poorly. We will resolve the issue of debts. There will be no superstructure above them (existing integration structures-holdings. - BELTA note). Nothing will happen at this stage," the President emphasized.
In addition, Alexander Lukashenko proposed considering the possibility of privatizing and selling to investors those farms that cannot operate effectively on their own.
