On April 25, Minsk /BelTA/. The housing waiting list in Polotsk may be eliminated within three years. This was announced by the Chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, Alexander Poznyak, during an online conference on the website of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency. "Currently, residents who have been on the waiting list since 2008-2009 are being accommodated. That is, the waiting list is not large – just over 7,000 people. In principle, at the current pace of construction, I believe we can eliminate the waiting list within a maximum of three years. This is not a problem, as there are construction capacities, the main thing is that people have the opportunities to build," noted Alexander Poznyak. Polotsk is experiencing intensive construction. Last year, over 40,000 sq.m. of housing were built. Approximately the same volume is planned for construction in 2012. Of this, multi-storey housing accounts for about 23,000 sq.m. "We are now focusing on a much more intensive development of individual housing construction, so that people can have their own homes. We have plots for this, information about them is posted on the website of the Polotsk City Executive Committee, and in principle, any resident of the city can obtain a plot for construction," said the Chairman of the Executive Committee. He also announced that in 2012, the construction of commercial housing will begin in Polotsk, which has not happened before. An investment agreement is being concluded with an investor for the construction of two multi-storey buildings in the city at the investor's expense. "The investor will build these houses, and there is a preliminary agreement that these houses will be priced lower than the cost per square meter in the houses currently being commissioned. The investor takes these risks upon themselves. And these houses will be sold to the residents of Polotsk, based on the fact that cheaper methods of work, which do not affect quality, are being applied here," said Alexander Poznyak. The Chairman of the Executive Committee stated that on May 25-26, an international investment forum will be held in Polotsk to mark City Day. Nanotechnology in the field of house insulation will be presented there. "House insulation will be carried out based on nanotechnology, which is actually no more expensive than current insulation methods. This will also help improve the quality of housing and reduce its cost," he summarized. -0-
