13 August, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Contenders for the title "Master of the Village" in the Vitebsk region will be catching fish with their bare hands and gathering potatoes against the clock, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM. The regional stage of the republican project will take place on 18 August in the village of Farinovo, Polotsk district. In pursuit of victory, almost two dozen married couples will have to decorate a family corner using their own creative works, original culinary dishes, and create designer bouquets. The "Woodcutter", "Horsewoman", "At the Mill", and "Grandpa's Fishing" contests will help reveal their rural life skills. The latter is of particular interest, as traditional fishing gear will not be needed by the rivals here: in an improvised aquarium up to 60 cm deep, couples will have to catch live fish with their hands. The winners who catch the largest catch will be awarded the title of the most skillful family. The physical fitness of the contestants will also not be overlooked by the jury. The most athletic will be identified by a rural relay race consisting of three stages, during which participants will have to gather potatoes against the clock, carry water using a yoke, and make bird cages from improvised materials. All participants of the competition will be awarded commemorative gifts and diplomas for their will and striving for victory, and the winner of the regional stage will also receive the right to represent the Vitebsk region at the republican stage, which will be held in September in Gorki, Mogilev region. The organizers of the event are the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM, the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Polotsk City Executive Committee, the Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Agricultural Workers, and the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society.
