In the Polotsk district, the memorial complex "Partisans of the K.E. Voroshilov Brigade" has been reopened after reconstruction.

In the agro-town of Gomel, Polotsk District, a memorial complex "Partisans of the K.E. Voroshilov Brigade" has been opened after reconstruction.

The initiative for the improvement, comprehensive repair, and restoration of the memorial in memory of the fallen Soviet soldiers and partisans during the Great Patriotic War was implemented by UP "Vitebskobvodokanal". A significant scope of work was completed here in a relatively short period: restoration of the memorial, granite cladding of individual elements, painting, laying new paving tiles, installation of modern lighting, and landscaping.

– The memorial complex, which we are opening today after modernization, is not just a monument of history, it is a place of remembrance, a tribute to the feat of heroes, a place of sorrow and pride. I am confident that the opening of the complex will contribute to our civic development and patriotic education, not only for our children but also for ourselves. It is important to remember the history of our people and honor the memory of heroes. And to pass it on from generation to generation; only in this way can we preserve peace and stability on our land, – addressed the attendees the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin.

After the solemn opening, the renovated memorial complex was digitized. This landmark site has been assigned a QR code, which will allow anyone who visits this memorial to access a platform where they can learn about its history with a simple gesture.

Participants of the event honored the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence and, as a sign of gratitude, laid flowers at the foot of the memorial.

The solemn event was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, the Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Vladimir Yurgevich, and the Chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Vasily Shilov.

The memorial complex was erected in memory of 580 fallen partisans of the K.E. Voroshilov Brigade, which included the detachments "Mstitel" (Avenger), "Za Rodinu" (For the Motherland), "Smert' fashizmu" (Death to Fascism), "KIM", "Bolshevik", and named after Gastello. The brigade's detachments operated in the occupied territory of Vetrynsky, Ushachsky, and Plissky districts. The partisans carried out attacks on the Polotsk – Molodechno railway, and on highway and dirt roads. The brigade fought fierce battles to hold its deployment area until its link-up with the Red Army on July 1, 1944.
