In the Postavy district, classes in primary schools will be cancelled from February 2, the head of the education department of the Postavy District Executive Committee, Alexander Kashirin, informed a BELTA correspondent. Due to the onset of 25-degree frosts, the district executive committee decided to cancel classes in grades 1-4. As for secondary and high school students, educational institutions and parents are given the right to make their own decisions based on temperature readings regarding class attendance. The district executive committee's decision will be in effect until the thermometer rises above minus 25 degrees. In the coming days, the district is expected to experience a temperature drop to minus 27-28 degrees. According to preliminary data from the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's education department, the Postavy district is currently the only one where local authorities have decided to cancel classes in schools. According to weather forecasters, in the next 24 hours in the northeast, thermometers will drop to 30 degrees in some places, with daytime temperatures expected to be minus 16-23 degrees. On the nights of February 2 and 3, in most parts of the republic, air temperatures are expected to be around minus 25-29 degrees, with some places reaching minus 30-32 degrees. -0-
