4 July, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. Approximately 1.2 million people participated in mass celebrations in Belarus on Independence Day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed a BELTA correspondent.
Festive events were held in Minsk and in all regional and district centres of the country. In Minsk, about 300,000 people watched the military parade and the sports and youth procession. Over 350,000 Minsk residents and guests of the capital participated in the "Let's Sing the Anthem Together" event near the "Minsk – Hero City" stele.
Enhanced security measures were taken to protect the venues of the festive events; the entire capital garrison, including internal troops, was on duty in the capital on the holiday. In addition, additional traffic police crews ensured road safety. "Public order was maintained, and the holiday passed without incident," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.-0-
