30 contenders for seats in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the sixth convocation have withdrawn their candidacies. Initially, 521 candidates for deputy were registered for the parliamentary post, and later four more appealed their candidate status (three were registered by court decisions and one more by the decision of the regional commission).
Currently, 315 candidates for deputy (63.6% of the total number) are representatives of political parties. Among the contenders are 115 women, 52 citizens under the age of 30, 28 people are deputies of the current House of Representatives convocation, and 35 are deputies of local Councils of Deputies.
According to the CEC, among the reasons that candidates who withdrew from the elections cite as primary are family circumstances, health status, and work specifics.
Elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus will be held on September 11.
