Belarusian schools are planning to introduce an elective course on professions related to ensuring state security. It will be called "School of Young Defenders of the Fatherland". This information is posted on the website of the Ministry of Defence, reports BELTA.
Together with the Ministry of Education, the military department has developed and is implementing measures to improve the training of youth for military service. "In the future, it is planned to organize training for students of grades 8-9 under the curriculum of the elective course "School of Young Defenders of the Fatherland" with the aim of familiarizing them with professions related to ensuring state security," the ministry informed.
In addition, plans include expanding the practice of conducting classes with schoolchildren on the basis of military units. As noted by the Ministry of Defence, such an initiative as the creation of military-patriotic classes has proven itself well. Their number is planned to be increased. In these classes, in addition to studying academic subjects at an advanced level, students will master the basics of military affairs and skills in handling small arms.
The Ministry of Defence also recalled the pre-conscription training centres. One of them opened on August 28 in Novolukoml on the basis of Secondary School No. 1. Currently, there are 33 such centres in the country. By order of the Minister of Defence, formations, military units, military educational institutions, and military departments have been assigned to all schools and pre-conscription training centres.
The system of teaching the subject "Pre-conscription and Medical Training" is being improved. "To this end, the curriculum for grades 10-11 has been revised, which has made it possible to update its content, detail issues related to defence legislation, the construction and development of the Armed Forces, the ideology of ensuring state military security, and to strengthen the patriotic focus of the "Defence of the Fatherland" section," the military department explained. Retraining courses for teachers who teach pre-conscription and medical training without military education have been organized at the Military Academy. "These measures will ensure the teaching of this subject at a high qualitative level and significantly increase the effectiveness of work on the military-patriotic education of students," the Ministry of Defence emphasized.
