9 August, Minsk /Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA/. At least $1 billion of direct Chinese investment is planned to be attracted for the creation of the China-Belarus Industrial Park in Belarus. This was announced today to journalists by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Tozik, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The issue of developing cooperation between Belarus and China was considered today at a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.
The Vice-Premier noted that the project will require the attraction of a significant volume of foreign investment. This volume is estimated at $1 billion to $1.5 billion. A significant part of these funds will be used to create the infrastructure of the future China-Belarus Industrial Park. "In general, we plan to attract at least $1 billion of direct Chinese investment for the creation of this facility," emphasized Anatoly Tozik.
He added that an intergovernmental agreement on the joint development of the China-Belarus Industrial Park is planned to be signed in September. This will be one of the largest projects involving direct Chinese investment.
Anatoly Tozik also recalled that with the involvement of Chinese capital, the construction of the "Lebyazhy" residential complex has begun in Minsk. Investments in this facility are estimated at $200 million. This year, it is also planned to start the construction of a 5-star hotel complex in Belarus with direct Chinese investment of $150-200 million. In addition, the construction of a multi-profile information, trade, and business center "Chaynataun" in Belarus with the participation of a consortium of Chinese companies is planned, for which $300-350 million from China is expected to be attracted.
The Vice-Premier stressed that documents are currently being prepared to create the most favorable conditions for the successful implementation of all these projects. -0-
