The legal-oriented class was established with the support of the Prosecutor General's Office.
"We are opening the seventh such class in Belarus, and I am confident that, thanks to the support of the regional executive committee, more will appear in the Vitebsk region," noted Gennady Dysko, Deputy Prosecutor General. "We want you, young people, to decide on your future profession, to see what prosecutorial supervision entails, and we will help you with this."
Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, expressed gratitude on behalf of the regional leadership to the Prosecutor General's Office for the career guidance project:
"This is not only about career orientation; the most important thing is to prepare a Citizen (with a capital 'C'), a patriot of our country. The knowledge you will gain in the specialised class, by interacting with prosecutors, will broaden your horizons. And you will share this knowledge not only with the students of Secondary School No. 34 but also with your peers."
According to Mikhail Lapitsky, Principal of Secondary School No. 34, the specialised tenth-grade class has 22 students. Social Studies, Russian, and foreign languages are studied at an advanced level. Additionally, students will have a weekly elective titled "Worthy to Serve the Motherland," and meetings with employees of the regional and city prosecutor's offices are planned every two weeks.
"It is gratifying that the Vitebsk region now also has a legal-oriented class, 'Young Prosecutor'," emphasised Igor Ukrainets, Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region. "This is an important event for everyone. First and foremost, for the young people who possess a sense of justice and dream of dedicating their lives to legal professions in the future. By the way, prosecutors will personally conduct classes with them. They will be introduced to the history of the prosecutor's office and the specifics of the service. Furthermore, students will attend some court proceedings, witness oath-taking ceremonies, and other significant events, including those related to the investigation of the criminal case concerning the genocide of the Belarusian people. It is valuable for us to nurture an engaged younger generation of patriots who love their country and are ready to defend its historical truth. And to whom, if not to such youth, can we pass on our knowledge and entrust the future?!"
During a solemn ceremony, students of the "Young Prosecutor" legal class solemnly pledged to strictly observe the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, preserve the historical memory of the heroic past of the Belarusian people, and achieve high academic performance.
– Studying in such a class is an excellent support for entering a higher education institution, – said tenth-grader Dmitry Maletsky. – I am pleased that specialised subjects will be studied at an advanced level. In the future, I would like to become a prosecutor – it is an interesting profession.
