But the conversation went far beyond the scope of studies.

Andrei Stankevich, Deputy Commander of the 52nd Separate Special Search Battalion, a man whose service is connected with memory and history every day, visited the children.

He spoke without pathos. About what it means to "defend" today: it is not only about wielding weapons. It is about knowing one's history, honouring heroic deeds, and restoring justice by unearthing soldiers' identification tags. Search, archival work, preservation of memory. This is the answer to the question: "What can I personally do for the country?" One can already now study the history of one's family, take care of monuments, and simply remember.

The children were interested in the details: how burial sites are found, what they feel when a soldier is found after decades, how difficult it is to work with stories that have become personal.
