Not only state-owned but also private enterprises of the Belarusian light industry have started to reorient their production en masse to sew protective suits, masks, caps, and gloves. The Vitebsk region has also joined this effort. For instance, at the Vitebsk Fur Combine, one of the workshops has been fully converted to mask production, and specialists from the cheese and dyeing production are also joining this process.
Understanding the complexity of the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection, enterprises such as Orsha Linen Mill, OJSC "Znamya Industrializatsii," and others are ready to employ people to assist in sewing protective items.
As reported by the General Director of OJSC "Znamya Industrializatsii," Andrey Shamshura, the factory can offer employment to 45 non-resident workers (this is the number of available places in the enterprise's dormitory), or employ about 100 people who do not require accommodation. Corresponding applications have already been submitted to the employment centre.
– If a person does not have special education or the necessary experience but wants to work and can be useful in such an important task as sewing protective equipment, we are ready to train everyone who responds to these vacancies. Experienced specialists will be assigned to them, – notes Andrey Vladimirovich.
Naturally, beginners will not be immediately allowed to sew the protective suits for medical personnel that have just been launched into production at "ZI." However, new personnel would enable the enterprise to increase the output of medical gauze masks by 10,000 units per day. Currently, over 50,000 units of these items are produced here.
