In connection with the start of the autumn season and the reduction of daylight hours, from September 19 to 24, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct nationwide preventive measures to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users.
Traffic police officers will inform the public about the rules of safe behaviour, including when riding bicycles and personal mobility devices, and will explain safety measures at pedestrian crossings. Taking into account the seasonal factor, they will remind about the necessity and rules of using retro-reflective products.
Raids are planned to work on the most accident-prone sections of roads and pedestrian crossings, involving cyclists and pedestrians who violate traffic rules, as well as drivers who ignore speed limits and crossing rules.
Since the beginning of the year, 67 pedestrians and 27 cyclists have died in road traffic accidents on the country's roads; in every fifth case, the deceased were intoxicated.
