The President’s Aide – Inspector for Vitebsk Region, Igor Brylo, took part in a ceremonial meeting.
– Each of you forms a part of our society. The wealth of knowledge, friendship, and unity embedded in each person will undoubtedly yield positive results. Undoubtedly, a youth organisation must comprise active and politically educated individuals. The work on patriotic education, participation in creative competitions and forums, all indicate that the Youth Union is on the right track, – noted Igor Brylo.
What qualities should a youth leader possess? What is needed for representatives of this generation to be able to correctly analyse information and think critically? What structures could help the BRSM achieve this? Young people posed these and other questions to Igor Brylo in an open dialogue format.
Speaking about the work of the Vitebsk Regional Organisation of the Youth Union, the First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the BRSM, Vladimir Babichev, noted that the organisation's main events and areas of activity are dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creation. Among them are the Regional Youth Forum "Youth for Peace and Creation", the military-patriotic game "Zarnitsa. Northern Region", the Regional Patriotic Marathon "Memory Auto Train", and the Regional Auto Marathon "85 Years Under the Skies of Vitebsk Region". The outcomes of the latter included the preparation of a video diary, the compilation of a map, and the publication of a book about Vitebsk Region. Incidentally, the marathon continues its work in September and is dedicated to the Day of National Unity. It was launched in Vitebsk, and on September 11-12, the marathon team will travel to district centres with informational and educational materials, 17 murals will be unveiled as part of the "Colours of Peace" competition, and a new edition of the book about Vitebsk Region will be presented.
The Regional Committee of the BRSM pays special attention to the activities of student work teams, the formation of student teams from among minors, including adolescents who are undergoing individual preventive work, as well as those in socially dangerous situations.
– The Vitebsk Regional Headquarters of Student Teams has traditionally formed and dispatched student teams for employment in the Russian Federation and ensured the creation and placement of a thematic billboard featuring the student pedagogical team "Phoenix" named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Semenovich Azonchik in Vitebsk at Moskovsky Prospekt, 35. Two billboards will appear in the regional center, as well as in Polotsk and Orsha during September, – said Vladimir Babichev.
By the way. As part of the Youth Days at the Slavianski Bazaar, the regional committee of the BRSM presented Vitebsk, the festival host, with three street benches and a new branded bus stop shelter.
– Student teams from Vitebsk region participated in six republican labor projects: the youth industrial labor project "Atlant – 2023", the All-Belarusian Youth Construction "City of Youth", the medical labor project "Medicus", the "Road of Opportunities" project, the industrial labor project "Tractor Builder – 2023", and the interdisciplinary labor project "Polesie – 2023" (Gomselmash), – noted Vladimir Babichev. – We actively cooperate with public associations. Work is continuously carried out on the repair and improvement of memorials, monuments, and obelisks of military glory, as well as mass graves and burials of soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters who died during the Great Patriotic War. Within the framework of the republican project "Digital Star", 28 such sites were digitized in 2023. Special attention is paid to providing targeted social support to veterans and non-working pensioners.
Speaking about achievements, Vladimir Babichev emphasized that four developments by representatives of Vitebsk region won the "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition, and three projects were recognized as the best in the republican competition of youth initiatives. Yaroslav Ivanov from VSTU received the title "Student of the Year – 2023", and Anna Kravtsova from the same university was awarded "Second Vice-Miss Student of the Republic of Belarus – 2023".
Also, at the republican sports and mass festival for working youth "Olimpiya – 2023", the team of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the NGO "BRSM" took 2nd place in the team standings among 20 teams.
– The results speak for themselves. We are moving forward, not resting on our laurels, – concluded Vladimir Babichev. – We have much to improve, invent, and implement. And for this, we have everything – a peaceful, beautiful, independent country.
