Vitebsk Honours the Region's Best Healthcare Professionals

Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Aleksandr Subbotin expressed his immense gratitude to the medical workers for their efforts and specifically highlighted the Vitebsk State Medical University, calling it not only an adornment of the region but also a pearl of republican significance. Aleksandr Subbotin assured that medicine will continue to receive significant attention from the regional authorities. Vitebsk medicine is capable of much, Aleksandr Subbotin is confident, and it will continue to delight and surprise with its achievements.

For many years of conscientious work in the healthcare system and personal contribution to improving medical services for the region's population, the Certificate of Honour of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee was awarded to Lyudmila Kovalyova, Deputy Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee; Valeriy Denisenko, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Specialized Center; Alla Seminido, Senior Nurse of the Surgical Department of the Beshenkovichi Central Regional Hospital; and Anna Stepanova, Deputy Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Endocrinology Dispensary.

The Certificate of Honour of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus was presented to Elena Leonovich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital, by Anatoliy Linevich, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region.

– We are celebrating Medical Worker Day in the year of the 103rd anniversary of Belarusian healthcare. The number 103 has become a symbol for every Belarusian of help, salvation, and hope in medicine, which prioritizes the patient's health and life, – noted Mikhail Vishnevetskiy, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, in his speech. – Over the past year, healthcare in the Vitebsk region has made significant progress in the quality and accessibility of medical care, modernization of diagnostic services, implementation of modern technologies, and development and expansion of the scope of medical services. The accessibility of quality medical care is ensured in accordance with state standards in all districts of the region. With the receding pandemic, we have reactivated preventive examinations and medical check-ups. Our goal is effective prevention and active detection of diseases in the early stages. We strive to reach every patient.

For fruitful, conscientious work, high professionalism, significant personal contribution to the provision of highly qualified medical care and successful fulfillment of the tasks facing the Ministry of Health, the badge "Excellent Healthcare Professional of the Republic of Belarus" was awarded to Nikolay Belyavsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Vitebsk State Medical University; Viktor Kurash, Head of the Therapeutic Department of Verkhnedvinsk Central District Hospital; Lyudmila Zorichyus, Head of the Parafyanovo General Practitioner's Outpatient Clinic of Dokshitsy Central District Hospital; Elena Kurnosova, Senior Nurse of the Surgical Department of Dubroven Central District Hospital; Zhanna Solovey, Senior Nurse of the Infectious Diseases Department of Novopolotsk City Hospital; Zhanna Maskina, Head of the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory of Vitebsk City Central Polyclinic; Elena Belyaeva, Ultrasound Diagnostics Doctor of the Department of Functional and Ultrasound Diagnostics of Vitebsk Regional Diagnostic Center, and others.

Based on the results of work for 2021, a competition was held in healthcare institutions to nominate candidates for the title "Doctor of the Year of the Republic of Belarus". In the "Pediatrician" nomination, the winner was Elena Stepanets, a pediatric neurologist at the pediatric neurology department of Polotsk Central City Hospital. In the "Therapist" nomination – Victoria Cherkasova, Head of the Cardiology Department of Novopolotsk Central City Hospital. In the "Surgeon" nomination – Alexander Sятковский, Head of the Department of Surgical Hepatology and Transplantation of Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. In the "Obstetrician-Gynecologist" nomination – Olga Strukova, Head of Women's Consultation No. 1 of the City Maternity Hospital of Orsha Central District Polyclinic. In the "General Practitioner" nomination – Marina Klakotskaya, General Practitioner of Lepel Central District Hospital.

A number of medical workers received awards from the industry trade union and VSMU.
